Hands-on training is ideal for those who need to understand how Woodward controls and associated accessories operate. MSHS certified and factory-trained instructors offer practical, theoretical training in a closed-loop environment.
MSHS offers the largest comprehensive Woodward authorized training program for specific Woodward products, designed to give you a better understanding of product operations, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair. Attendees are eligible for CEU credits or Professional Development Hours (PDH). Time permitting, standard classes may be geared to customers’ specific requirements, covering everything from basic theory through applications to hands-on experience.
Standard classes are held at our state-of-the-art training facility or can be scheduled at your site and are conducted by certified instructors with many years of Woodward experience in engineering, application, and training.

If you work with Woodward Industrial mechanical governors or electronic controls systems as a plant or vessel supervisor, instrumentation and electrical (I&E) engineer, maintenance operations, or an applications engineer, these courses will sharpen troubleshooting skills to increase efficiencies and uptime.
Learn the operation, installation, and adjustments of 2301A (Analog) and the 2301D or E (Digital) Load Sharing Speed Control. Understand how the 2301A and 2301D or E control, actuators, and their associated accessories allow their engines to operate together, either on or off the infinite bus (utility). Hardware and software configuration/monitoring will be explained and connected to a loop test set.
Woodward 723 PLUS control is a configurable control for prime movers. Both the hardware and software will be covered in class. During the course, the control will be programmed and monitored with Woodward Watch Window and a hand-held programmer. The control will be operated using a closed-loop test set to simulate an engine.
Learn more about the basics of power management. This course will focus on the Woodward DSLC-2 & MSLC-2 controls including theory, installation, operation, and maintenance plus hands-on programming, adjustments, and troubleshooting techniques.
The course covers theory, installation, programming, operation, and maintenance of the easYgen 3000 control systems using actual controls. Hands-on training includes time for programming, adjustments, and troubleshooting techniques.
Woodward Peak 150 digital steam turbine controls are used
in mechanical drive applications. Hardware, software, and
programming will be demonstrated; through a closed-loop
test set. Learn how the Peak 150 control, actuators, and
their associated accessories allow turbines to operate
together, either on or off the infinite bus (utility) or operating
a mechanical drive.
Woodward ProTech GII, TPS, and SX are speed Safety Devices for steam turbines. This class is designed to explain the operation, theory, installation, programming, and maintenance. The hands-on portion will include programming, adjustments, and troubleshooting techniques
Review Woodward digital steam turbine control theory and turbine parameters, installation, wiring, operating procedures, programming, and troubleshooting. The handson portion includes programming, adjustments, and troubleshooting techniques on the 505 connected to the simulator with specifically designed examples. Operate the control within a closed-loop test set.
This class will give you the opportunity to learn about the UG governor. In this class, you will learn the theory, installation, operation, and maintenance of the governor. Calibration and troubleshooting by using the test stand.
Mechanical Governor Basics including TG, PG, PGA, PGG, PG-PL, UG-8, UG-25, etc. Learn about Woodward’s mechanical governor theory, installation, calibration/testing procedures, and maintenance. Practical training includes hands-on assembly and adjustments of controls.
This class will begin with an introduction to the basics of power management. The installation, programming, troubleshooting, and operation of the EGCP-3 will be covered, and class members will gain hands-on experience in programming the control.
This class covers basic programming of the Woodward GAP (Graphical Application Program) software. During the course, GAP™ application programming, as well as monitoring with the use of Monitor GAP utility, will be accomplished.
The class covers theory, tuning and some programming of the Woodward MicroNet digital control platform, GAP theory and programming.
This class covers the servicing and commissioning power management systems using the 723 and DSLC & MSLC controls. The training includes the theory, installation, programming, operation, and maintenance of the 723 and DSLC & MSLC control system with the help of simulators and various modules.
This course starts with the fundamentals of AVR and excitation systems, from the wiring diagram moving on to the step-by-step configuring of a DECS200. The class includes hands-on setting up and configuring the two different AVRs and a review of the use of tuning tools.
